Notice that I’m trying to emulate myself many years earlier with the same arms folded pose.

That’s quite the drum set! YouTube user MrJJsDrumTV did a great job with this cover!
When “Touch Me” was first released, the press was killing us over our new sound on THE SOFT PARADE. Nonetheless, this song hit #1 in the charts!
Fun fact, Jim’s line “Stronger than dirt” at the end of the song was a reference from an Ajax cleaner commercial.
It is with great sadness that I post that one of my heroes, tabla master Zakir Hussain, has crossed over. I saw him play many times, with Indian masters, jazz masters, & percussion masters, of which he was one. Zakir not only was a virtuoso of Indian music, he took in many genres (jazz, rock, world) and made it his own. “I was the only kid on the block who was walking down the street with a boombox on my shoulder, playing as loud as I could ‘Light My Fire’”, Hussain recalled. Here is a photo of me with him backstage at the Disney Hall. RIP my percussion brother, john densmore

Remembering “The Last DJ” Jim Ladd.
Few could match his deep connection to the music he shared. Rock ‘n’ roll truly coursed through his veins. His passion for the art form was unmatched, making him one of a kind.

On this day in 2006, Oliver Stone, Val Kilmer, Kyle MacLachlan, and I gathered to celebrate the 15th anniversary (Today it’s 32... yikes) of a film that rhymes with... “The Floors.” I just can’t think of the title at the moment!

Throwback to a little performance I did in Tucson, AZ at a John Coinman fundraiser for wild horses.
I performed “The Bones Of My Father” by the great poet Etheridge Knight. In the poem, all the people are searching for his father’s bones as a metaphor for looking for mentors or teachers.

In honor of my new audiobook of THE DOORS UNHINGED: JIM MORRISON’S LEGACY GOES ON TRIAL, take a look at the introduction.
This story delves into the legal fight to protect The Doors’ artistic integrity. It also revealed a larger truth about our world: for some, no amount of money ever seems to satisfy.
